12 March 2025

A luxury knitting company that manufactures for esteemed fashion houses such as Givenchy, Chloé and Belstaff is creating an exclusive knitwear range for the world-famous Isle of Man TT motorcycle race.
The Albion Knitting Co. which moved from its London base to set up operations in the Isle of Man in 2024, will produce a bespoke jumper, hoodie and quarter-zip in honour of the historic competition.
Awarded the Kings Award for Enterprise last year for their work in pioneering the renaissance of luxury knitting in the UK, Albion has moved nearly all its staff to the Island to take advantage of its pro-business environment and stable economy.
Christian Murphy, Founder & Director of The Albion Knitting Co. IOM said: “In 2023 we visited the Isle of Man to watch the TT races, and now with this collaboration, we have come full circle.
“The Island’s Government and business community have welcomed us with open arms. Their support eased our move, and the financial assistance greatly facilitated our transition to the Island.
“The Isle of Man offers businesses a distinctive operating environment with unparalleled work-life balance, natural beauty and direct access to decision makers – all of which had a significant influence on our decision to move.”
As part of their relocation, Albion have undertaken a significant project to develop a bespoke manufacturing facility in the Isle of Man, representing an initial investment of almost £3m into the Isle of Man.
This investment was supported by the Isle of Man Government through their Financial Assistance Scheme, which offers generous grant support of up to 40% towards capital and operating expenditure for businesses in the Engineering and Manufacturing sector. With a rich heritage in innovation and precision engineering, and a skilled workforce, the Isle of Man has long been a hub for manufacturing excellence, and offers an ideal location for growth and investment.
Today, the company marked their official opening on the Island with a special ceremony and factory tour attended by dignitaries including the Island’s Lieutenant Governor, Lieutenant General Sir John Lorimer KCB DSO MBE, several Isle of Man Government Ministers and representatives from their customers from all over the world.
Tim Cowsill, CEO of Business Isle of Man, part of the Isle of Man Government’s Department for Enterprise, said: “This is an exciting moment for Albion, and we are delighted to welcome them to the Isle of Man.
“The Island’s advanced Engineering and Manufacturing sector has a history of contributing to innovation, supplying into niche high value markets. Albion is a great example of how the Isle of Man supports businesses that lead to the diversification of its economy.
“We hope that Albion will soon be joined by others in the creative sector in the Isle of Man.”
Albion’s new TT range is expected to be on sale in May, in time for the TT which begins on 26 May.
