Get Your Pet a Christmas Present
16 December 2024
Loved ones aren’t just limited to humans, make sure you get your pet something this Christmas (they’ll know).
Your woof dog will be overJOYED to be opening a present on the 25th, and it would be awful to leave them out the fun and the mess.
Now this isn’t saying get a puppy for Christmas (we all know the old slogan of a dog is for life, not just for Christmas), it’s saying do not miss them off your present buying list.
Present For The Woof
Make this holiday season extra special for your canine companion with a range of Christmas dog gifts from our local shops.
From delicious holiday-themed treats to chew-tastic toys, they have got everything your pup needs to join in on the festive cheer.
Ramsey Pet Supplies is like Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory for the woofs.
You could nip in there and get ole Bruce a pig in blanket toy (plus a real one at dinner time).
Or how about treating Lucky to some gourmet food from Hound and Howl.
Port Erin Pets would be the ultimate double whammy – get them a new toy and also in for a nice groom just before a Christmas family photoshoot.
For the Mogs
For the meow meows – anything with cat nip. Say what you like, or feel how you feel, nothing brings me as much joy as a cat high as a kite on cat nip.
Now Ramsey Pet Supplies have some seriously brilliant cat nip inspired gifts for the Mr Sniffles including catnip sardines.
Pop down to Castletown Pet Shop and get Mrs Cupcake some dreamies – if you don’t let your cat have these you are the worst kind of parent that also forbids children from sweets.
For the Neighs
Ah the big oversized money drains that some of us poor sods got persuaded into having and have spent every day since wondering why.
We don’t seem to spend enough on them with farrier, livery and vet bills so we opt to really financially cripple ourselves and enter into an eternal love affair with our overdraft to make sure they have a Christmas present.
Annoyingly for us delusional horse owners who seem to willingly opt for this pit of despair we have some really brilliant equestrian shops on the island that also have dog supplies (if you’re going to have one animal, you may as well have a whole zoo).
Horse and Rider Equestrian Retailer based at the Millmount Complex is a haven for horse and dog owners alike.
I’d opt for one of the fluffy Kentucky rugs – purely because when you’re crying about how poor and miserable you are thanks to said horse you can do it in a nice fluffy rug.
Farmers Combine in Ramsey also have a fine offering of goodies available – they also have something for the birds in your garden!
I tend to go here for all my equine first aid needs, which tends to be more often than I’d like; they do have lots of horses treats and you could opt to get your nag a mineral lick.
Finally, if you’re heading up Richmond Hill you could pop into Country Warehouse and get your horse some festive themed leg wraps – who doesn’t want to pretend to be Santa and Rudolph on Christmas morning?!
Shop Local For Your Pet
With shop owners and staff all going the extra mile, you should think local first this Christmas.
The magic of in-person shopping brings the joy of human connection that you do not get through a laptop screen.
Not only do you get to bump into old friends and have personalised advice, you can feel confident in your Christmas purchases by shopping locally—you can see, touch, and even taste before you buy!
So before rushing off to buy your secret Santa present online in haste, make sure you stroll down your local high street and see what is on offer.
